SSPS took part in Comic Relief day this year with a non school uniform and mad hair day!
On Friday 19th March students and staff came to school in clothes of their choice and crazy hairstyles to raise much needed funds for people in the UK and across the world through the annual Red Nose Day held by Comic Relief.
Here are some pictures of our crazy haired staff…
Our new mobile Covid testing unit is up and running ready to test students and staff.
Our Team Triple T (Terrific Testing Team!) are trained and kitted out with appropriate PPE in preparation for carrying out routine testing as directed by the government.
We are really proud of how quickly we have put together our testing unit which will visit all of our school sites to carry out the routine tests.
We can beat this together!
A big thank you to Noodles Ices for visiting all our school sites this week. Staff and students were very grateful for the delicious ice creams to end the term with a smile!
Staff and students kicked off the Christmas season at SSPS on Friday 11th December by supporting Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day.
Everyone was invited to come to school in their Christmas jumpers …. and we did not disappoint! The prize for the most festive effort goes to Mr. Coombes who took the Christmas jumper to a whole new level with his Christmas Suit!
Our Middle Years students have been making the most of the crisp December weather this week by doing an Outdoor Ed lesson at Durdle Door in Dorset.
They played games on the beach outrunning the waves and collecting interesting looking stones, cuttle fish and seaweed to paint later in class. The children showed resilience climbing up the steep hill back to the carpark as well as curiosity in engaging with the different types of rock and materials, such as clay on the beach.
! What a view! That hill was steep!!
Our Middle Years pupils have been studying Diwali this week and have created a colourful display of their work.
They did some fabulous artwork and they even experimented with henna hand painting!
Careers Day 2020 looked a little different to previous years but that did not stop us from having fun investigating lots of different careers and job opportunities.
Students in Upper and Lower School took part in the Somerset Careers Day online whilst our Middle Years children wrote some great Career Pathways. Our Chard centre had a great day discovering what it takes to join the Armed Forces with some fantastic commando crawl demonstrations from some of our staff!
On Wednesday 11th November 2020 students and staff at SSPS commemorated Armistice Day across our school sites.
At 11:00am all students and staff stopped working and observed a 2 minute silence to remember our service men and women who fought in the last 2 world wars, as well as those involved in more recent conflicts around the world. Students at our Dampier Street site joined our neighbours the Fire Service to show their respect.
Lots of other learning and activities also took place to mark the occasion, including some really great artwork.
